My family has a few traditions that we do every year. One of those is that we always get to open one present on Christmas Eve. Not a big Christmas present but something that you can use at the moment like a new book to read before bed or a new game. All day on Christmas eve, I wait with excitement to open that one gift, because it lets me know that Christmas is here. We then sit around together enjoying holiday treats, listening to Christmas music and watching the Norad Santa tracker online. Another tradition we have is to try and take in some of the wonderful Christmas community events that happen every year. This year my family went to Van Dusen Gardens in Vancouver where you walk around the gardens at night, and all of the trees and bushes are decorated with beautiful Christmas lights and decorations and there is festive music. There is also a light show done to Christmas music, where the lights flash in time to the music. It was awesome!
Now here is a little Christmas poem:
Twinkling Christmas lights
in the darkest of nights
You remind me
that Christmas is not just about the tree
When we open our presents
I think of a pheasant
and how happy it must be
that it's not in my tummy
