It was a beautiful, cool crisp October morning. There was a light breeze in the air, and I was filled with anticipation. It was a perfect day to fly a kite! It all started the day before with an assembly in the gym where two instructors showed us kites from different countries. Seeing all the bright kites made me inspired to create my own kite. We went back to class where we started the designs to our kites. The kites were made from bamboo paper and we were able to put any design we wanted on it. I chose to put my name on it, a smiley face, a drawing of a 100 dollar bill, and a drawing of McDonald's french fries. I liked the way my kite turned out, and I thought it looked cool! As I looked aound the classroom, it was neat to see such colorful and creative kites. The next day we had an assembly in the gym. We all rushed to the gym in anticipation to get our kites assembled. We joined out little buddies, and with the help of the kite instructors and parent helpers, we worked carefully to finish out kites. We had to use sticks, and tape to hold the frame of the kite together, and then we had to attach the handle, string and tail to the kite. I enjoyed working with my little buddy Darrick from grade 3, I thought his kite turned out awesome as well. When the kites were all finished, we burst out the doors, and let them fly! There was a good wind to fly the kites in the warm mid-afternoon sunshine. My kite led me to many places across the field. I got scared when my kite got stuck in a tree. With some careful guidance from the parent helpers, I was able to get my kite from the tree. When I saw all the kites in the sky, it looked like colorful balloons floating up. It was an exciting day, and I had loads of fun.
