I finally finished my soapstone project! It was about 8 weeks ago that I was just thinking of an idea and finding a stone that was fit just for me! I got to use and learn about a lot of different tools like saws and cutting tools. Also did you know that on a scale form 1-10 Soapstone is the softest and easiest material to use? I bet you didn't.
The last steps of soapstone were to us the four levels of sandpaper and then put it in the oven for about 10 minutes. Then you put a layer of wax on to really make it "shine!" Finally after that you buff the soapstone as the finishing touches. Mine was a brown frog since the stone turned out to be brown. You don't know what colour it is until you really delve into it! I had a LOT of fun doing this and the opportunity is a once in a life time thing. I hope to do it again someday as it truly was an experience to remember!!!
