It all started on Christmas Day. After we opened presents, my dad announced that he had one more surprise! He told us we would be staying at Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound Washington for New Years Eve and Day! Great Wolf Lodge is a giant indoor water park with an awesome hotel. I was so excited that I almost screamed! We had been wanting to go there for a long time.
It was really hard to wait all week for New Year's eve to come but when it finally arrived, I jumped out of bed ready to go. We quickly packed and set out for our adventure. After a long 3 hour car ride we finally arrived.
When we got to the lodge it was bigger than I expected. It was HUGE! We checked in and went to our room. Overall the lodge was very old fashioned and rustic looking. It was decorated for Christmas with snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, lots of bright Christmas lights and a giant Christmas tree. Our room was the same theme, lamps that had tree branches and oak wood tables. Everything in the lodge was loud from all of the people and it smelled... different in a way, like a log cabin with really good smelling food.
We had dinner at the special New Years eve buffet that night. I had lots of meat for dinner with buns, vegetables and a few other dishes I had never tried before. For dessert: an ice cream sandwich and cupcakes! It was delicious!!! The service was great, and everyone was really friendly.
After dinner, we headed to the main attraction - the water park. The water park had 6 water slides and the best one was called "Howlin Tornado" which had a big drop then you swayed from side to side and everyone screamed and laughed. There was also a wave pool which had 2 different types of waves- choppy, and up, and down. Finally there was a playground/water park area, a hot tub inside and out, and some areas for babies and tykes to play in.
The best part of the evening was the New Years Celebration party. It was dark with a disco ball, flashing lights and awesome, very loud music. The room was decorated for the celebration, and everyone wore party hats and had noise makers. I sung every song at the top of my lungs and danced to every song. There were tons of people of all ages, celebrating the New Year and having a great time. My favorite song was Gangnam Style, and it was the song they played after the countdown when the clock struck midnight! Everyone screamed "Happy New Year"! After the party I practically passed out from fatigue.
On our final day we went swimming in the water park again and enjoyed ourselves. Then at about 3 PM we packed up and headed home, happy that we had had the chance to start the New Year in such an awesome way.
